Untamed Motorsports continued their trip to the top of the NASCAR iRacing.com Tour Modified Series in Week Two with Royce Valley topping the field of ground-pounders as the victor at the Richmond International Raceway. The first race on August 9th proved to be the big race for the week as four of the top five spots in the weekly standings were occupied by sim racers who scored top finishes in the 100-lap affair.

Valley’s win in the 3594 sof race gained the Modified veteran 225 points at the Richmond oval. Valley led the final 13 laps of the race, defeating Taylor Meyn, who led the most laps of the event, pacing the field for 69 laps. Brandon Salvatore came home in third after leading 18 laps from the pole while Jerold John and Week One winner Shane Kline completed the top five. With the top four having point totals over 180 points and with this race the one that counted for their week long points, Meyn (second), Salvatore (third) and John (fifth) each found themselves within the top five of the weekly standings when the dust settled.

David Jaques captured fourth place overall for the week with his victory in the 2953 sof race on Thursday. Jacques led for 44 laps in the five caution affair and beat last season’s champion Herbert Engelhart to the checkered flag. Kevin Walker came home in third, followed by Ray Farlow and Darrell Prytle. Jaques scored 185 points for his win in the 16 car field.

Derrick Cormier2 topped the charts with the most starts (nine) and most wins (three) this week. The winners list included James Ambrose (two), Jeremy P Bogdanovitch (two), Caleb Shelton (two), Satoru Ohno (two), Corey Riley, Rick Webster, Aaron Likens, Anthony Collins, Tony Dugan, Daniel Muse, Ron Scheyd, Cole Williams, Jaques, Meyn and Valley. Jaques had the fastest qualifying time of the week, clocking in with a lap of 20.539 seconds around the ¾-mile Richmond oval. Bogdanovitch was second in qualifying, followed by Kline, John and Salvatore. Salvatore meanwhile had the last laugh in the Time Trial competition, besting Jaques, Kline and Timothy Heard in the 10-lap, beat the clock competition.

The big week at Richmond left Valley with the point lead after two rounds of racing in the Tour Modifieds. John trails the point leader by 23 points while Division Two leader Salvatore and Irwindale winner Shane Kline sits just two and three points respectively behind the all-time start leader in the series. Engelhart has clawed his way back up to fifth overall after Richmond. Brent Thompson, David McGuire, Richard Adair, Timothy Finnegan, Richard Jordan, Terry Garska, Jeffrey Haddock and Thermon Shinholster Jr lead Divisions Three through Ten after the first two weeks of the season.

Next up for the NASCAR iRacing Tour Modified division is a week of racing at the famed Lanier National Speedway. Last season it was Oval Pro PJ Stergios who took a convincing win at the tight oval. Who will come out on top this time? Find out here next week.

Until then, keep the hammer down and we’ll see you at the track!
