2024 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Race Preview: Daytona

The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup returns on Saturday with the first race of the 2024 season at Daytona International Speedway. Defending series champion Jordan Caruso headlines the 30-driver roster, which also includes former champions Diogo Pinto and Sebastian Job and many other incredible talents, both familiar and new to the action. All are looking for their share of this season’s $200,000 purse.

This will mark the first time that the series takes on the famed superspeedway in Florida, home to the recently completed real-world Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Live streaming of the events begin on Saturday at 18:00 GMT (1PM ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch with the return of the All-Star series. The pros will take off one hour afterwards, at 19:00 GMT (2PM ET).

Last Race: When we left things off at the end of the 2023 season, Caruso was crowned the Supercup champion at the conclusion of the Sprint race at Monza Circuit. He had a chance to wrap it up a race prior, at Le Mans, but a last lap kerfuffle allowed both Job and Zac Campbell a chance to steal. Caruso denied his rivals by winning, making it impossible no matter what happened in the Feature. The final Feature win of the year went to the winningest rookie of the season, Gustavo Ariel.

Last Season: In the previous two seasons, Hockenheim has been the go-to opening race. This year, it sits second on the calendar to Daytona. Teams such as VRS Coanda Esports and Team Redline come out of the gates swinging regardless of the venue, with the two teams responsible for five of the last six combined Sprint or Feature wins to open the last three seasons. Last year, Pinto took the Hockenheim Sprint win while Campbell captured the Feature victory.

Track Facts: Known as “The World Center of Racing”, Daytona International Speedway has a deep history in many facets of American motorsport, from NASCAR and their annual Daytona 500 to IMSA and their 24-hour battle for the Rolex 24. This track also hosts Bike Week’s Daytona 200, Daytona Supercross, Daytona KartWeek between Christmas and New Years, and a host of driving school, club, and other events. While the oval boasts 2.5-miles of intense, high-speed action, the road course that traverses the infield measures at 3.56-miles and incorporates most of the banked oval.

Next Up: After the trip to the United States, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup heads to a familiar site—Hockenheim—for the second race of the season. Those events are scheduled for Saturday, February 10th, and will be live starting at 18:00 GMT (1PM ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch with All-Stars on tap first. The Supercup races will take off one hour afterwards, at 19:00 GMT (2PM ET).
