Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup returns with new formats, $200,000 in prizes again in 2024

The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup is back in 2024 for its sixth season of top level esports competition. 30 of the best sim racers from around the world are set to compete for their share of this season’s $200,000 prize pool.

Seven races are on the schedule, starting at Daytona International Speedway for the first time in series history. The historic Imola Circuit, also known as the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, joins the list of races for the first time since 2021 in the penultimate slot. Hockenheim, Le Mans, Watkins Glen, the Red Bull Ring, and Monza Circuit will all return from the 2023 season as well.

Races will be contested on Saturdays from February 3rd to April 6th, with festivities starting around 18:00 GMT. Most race days will feature the usual Sprint and Main race format following a single car qualifying round, all three sessions of which will award points towards the championship. Main races offer more points than Sprints, while qualifying also offers points to the top-5 qualifiers. 

New for 2024, there will be a Mid Season Tournament in the fourth race, at Watkins Glen, which will offer up an elimination-style event with multiple Heat races instead of one Sprint. Meanwhile, the finale at Monza will feature a pair of Main Races, both equal distance races, that will each award the same amount of points towards the championship as opposed to the first race only offering around half the points. 

The regular races on the schedule, as well as the finale, will still invert the top eight finishers from the Sprint for the starting lineup of the Main. Each of the first six races will offer a maximum of 85 points, while the finale will have 110 up for grabs due to the double-main format.

The overall champion walks away with $50,000. A TAG Heuer Connected watch is also on the line for the overall TAG Heuer Pole Award winner through the season. 

Last year, it was Altus Esports’ Jordan Caruso scoring his first career title. He’ll be back to take on other former champions such as Team Redline’s Diogo Pinto and Red Bull Racing Esports’ Sebastian Job. The full roster will be revealed next week, and includes a mix of drivers returning from the 2023 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup standings, and some new faces that qualified through the 2023 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Contender Series. 

Not only will there be pro sim racers, but the PESC All-Stars are also set to return in 2024 as well. Last season, eNASCAR Champion Casey Kirwan ran away with the championship. The pre-race events featured top iRacing community heroes such as Matt Malone, Dave Cameron, Jimmy Broadbent and former champions Emily Jones and Tyson Meier.

The first event will take place on February 3rd at Daytona. The stream is expected to go live starting at 18:00 GMT (1:00 pm EST) on both Porsche’s and iRacing’s social media channels.
