RACE FORMAT

Once again in 2025, the road course races at Interlagos and Chicago will have their own special format, similar to the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, with a Sprint and Feature race in play. Up to 48 points are on the table, with qualifying points awarded to top qualifiers. The Pole Award winner will score eight points, and each position down through eighth will incrementally score one less point through eighth place.

The top eight qualifiers will then invert for the Sprint race, with the Pole Award recipient starting eighth and eighth place on the pole. The Sprint race will be 12 laps, and it will set the grid for the Feature. No points will be scored at the conclusion of the Sprint race. The Feature will be 24 laps, and the normal eNASCAR points will be awarded at the conclusion of that.

Interlagos will also reintroduce incident limits back to the series, just for the road courses, as well as scrutinize abuse of track limits for unfair advantages. While drivers won’t face the fear of disqualification on incident points, hitting certain limits will force drive-through penalties for offending drivers. Any track limit abuse beyond the normal incident system is also subject to further penalties.

LAST RACE

Last week at Las Vegas, it was a gambler’s dream as Kollin Keister played spoiler to score his second career victory in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series. Defending series champion Parker White held the lead on the final restart with just under 10 laps to go. Keister, in sixth, pitted about 25 laps after White and the majority of the field, hoping he would get the right cautions at the right time to utilize the fresher rubber. He did, and with five laps to go, Keister passed for the lead. Michael Cosey Jr gave him a shot on the last lap, but Keister held on for the victory.

LAST YEAR

Following a successful trip to virtual Italy and the Monza Circuit the year prior, the 2024 season saw the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series take on Brands Hatch Circuit for the first time. Combined with a new format which included qualifying points, a top-eight invert, and a Sprint and Main race, Bobby Zalenski managed to still wind up on top by the end of the day. Battling with Parker White, Vicente Salas, and Steven Wilson, Zalenski persevered and held them all off for what would be his 15th career victory, the ninth of which was on a road course.

TRACK FACTS

Located in São Paulo, Autódromo José Carlos Pace (better known as Interlagos) has hosted the Brazilian Grand Prix for the better part of the past 50 years. The 2.677-mile, 15-turn circuit took its current form in 1999, under a decade after a dramatic shortening from its original layout of nearly five miles. Its most unique characteristics include both its counterclockwise direction and its hilly terrain. The elevation changes and racing surface are well known for testing the limits of both a driver’s physical fitness and car’s durability.

NEXT RACE

Following Interlagos, the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series takes an extended break, returning on March 25th with the fourth race of the 2025 season at Richmond Raceway. Last season, Richmond introduced the new short track format with heat races and a main event. Steven Wilson and Michael Cosey Jr won the heats, but it was Wilson who took the overall victory.
