2026 Porsche Esports Supercup World Championship Series | Race #4 | Interlagos | Preview
October 9th, 2026 by Justin Melillo
The Porsche Esports Supercup World Championship Series continues this Saturday, October 10th, featuring 32 of the best sim racers around the globe. Next up, the competition heads to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, a.k.a. Interlagos in Brazil, for the fourth round of the five-round season.
Verstappen Sim Racing’s Florian Lebigre became the first driver on the season with multiple Sprint race wins—multiple wins in general—and claims the points lead with two events to go. He’s followed closely by Mitchell deJong in the standings, the driver that conquered the adverse conditions at Suzuka for his first Main race win of the season.
Live streaming of the events will begin on Saturday at 19:00 GMT (3:00 p.m. ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch.
LAST RACE | LEBIGRE DOUBLES UP ON SPRINTS; DEJONG SURVIVES WET TRACK ON DRY TIRES
A turning point in the road to the 2026 Porsche Esports Supercup World Championship took place at a damp and greasy Suzuka Circuit last Saturday. Charlie Collins was just one of the four winners so far on the season, and was looking to match Florian Lebigre—who had doubled his win total earlier in the day in the Sprint—when the virtual heavens began to moisten just a portion of the Japanese venue.
Collins entered Spoon Curve at the start of the wet weather as one of the three leaders contesting the win, along with fellow Coanda teammate Dayne Warren and Grid-and-Go’s Hady Noah Mimassi, who was the invert pole sitter from an eighth place finish in the Sprint. All three would find trouble in some form or fashion before the end of the day. So did Coanda’s Mitchell deJong, who opted to stay on slicks as well, but was bumped back to 10th on the opening lap. From there, he worked his way back up to the lead as the track, at first, began to dry out, then got exponentially wetter as the time ticked down.
Lebigre, meanwhile, was hoping to be the first driver to double up and sweep an entire race weekend this season. From fourth, Lebigre pitted midway for wet weather tires. It allowed him to get back to fourth, but just one more lap, and he could have taken the sweep. Instead, it was deJong holding on for the win on the dry tires.
LAST TIME AT INTERLAGOS | SEBASTIAN JOB, ZAC CAMPBELL TAKE BRAZIL WINS IN 2022
The last time the Porsche Esports Supercup World Championship Series took to Interlagos in Brazil was back in the 2022 season. Under the same format, on that day, Sebastian Job took the pole position for the Sprint race and wound up dominating it, leading all of the laps to take the win. Zac Campbell finished fourth in the Sprint, which put him in fifth for the Main race later in the day.
For the Main, Diogo Pinto led the field to the green, but he would be overtaken by Kevin Ellis Jr, Dayne Warren, and an unproven Campbell, searching for a first Feature victory in his career. Warren fell out of contention from incident points, pinning Ellis Jr and Campbell against one another for the win. On the final lap, Campbell dove in and held it alongside Ellis Jr. The raced off of the second corner, where Campbell cleared into the lead and went on to take the win.
INTERLAGOS TRACK FACTS
Interlagos (or as it is officially known, Autódromo José Carlos Pace in memory of the Brazilian driver who perished in a 1977 plane crash) is among the most celebrated of all Formula One circuits. Known for its serpentine layout and dramatic elevation changes, the circuit has been the home of the Brazilian Grand Prix since 1973 but for the period from 1978-1989.
Among a few major international circuits to run counter-clockwise, Interlagos was constructed between two reservoirs on the outskirts of Sao Paulo in the late 1930s, snaking around upon itself for 4.9 miles/7.96 km. A year after Argentina’s Carlos Reutemann won a non-championship Formula One race at Interlagos in 1972, the first true Brazilian Grand Prix produced a popular victory in Emerson Fittipaldi. Fittipaldi would win the race again the following year before Pace made it three straight for Brazil.
However, the cost of maintenance and necessary safety upgrades led to the Brazilian Grand Prix moving to the comparatively antiseptic Jacarepaguá circuit near Rio de Janeiro. The event returned to Interlagos in 1990 following a $15 million revamp that saw the Grand Prix circuit shortened to 2.68 miles/4.292km, effectively by-passing two of the long track’s straightaways with a plunging downhill esse bend named in honor of Ayrton Senna.
Many of the original corners were retained in the revised circuit including Ferradura (Horseshoe), Laranjinha (Little Orange), Pinheirinho (Little Pine Tree), Bico de Pato (Duck Bill), Mergulho (Dive) and the crucial Junção (Junction), which leads to the flat-out run through Subida dos Boxes (Up to the Pits) and Arquibancadas (Bleachers) curves to the Tribunas straightaway past the pits.
Over the years, Interlagos has witnessed any number of memorable races, from the early wins by Fittipaldi and Pace, to Senna’s emotional victory in the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix and a 2008 race that saw Lewis Hamilton edge Felipe Massa for the World Championship on the final lap of the season.
In addition to Formula One, Interlagos has hosted international sports and touring car events along with a variety of national series including Stock Car Brazil, Formula Truck and Formula 3 as well as bicycle races, some of which utilize the Moto circuit, which features a chicane between Junção and Subida dos Boxes.
