Alfalla Sets Fire to Atlanta

Atlanta Motor Speedway played host to the fifth week of online racing in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (fixed setup) and what a turnout of eager sim racers it had. Over 1,500 iRacers attempted to take home the hardware, but it was a familiar face to not only this series, but to the entire iRacing.com service who did just that.

With so many online racers competing in at least one race during the week, earning the victory in the high Strength of Field was a difficult task, but the 5017 SoF proved to be no struggle for NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship competitor Bryan Blackford (Florida). Justin Brooks (Carolina) finished a very close second to Blackford, just 0.211 seconds behind. The NiSWC is once again represented in the top five as Jason Karlavige (Pennsylvania) finished in the third postion. Connecticut native Steven Eszenyi ended the race in the fourth position and completing the top five was Chad Coleman (Georgia), another regular competitor in the NiSWC.

Although two-time NiSWC champion Ray Alfalla (Florida) did not win the week’s highest Strength of Field, he was able to earn the most championship points for the week with 316. With his second place finish in the week’s high SoF, Brooks netted 300 points. Byron Daley (New York) ended Week Five in the third position, adding 298 points to his season total. Karlavige finished-off a successful week in the fourth spot and completing the top five was NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series competitor Brandon Kettelle (Florida).

Dylan Cecce led a pair of New York online racers atop a very tight qualifying chart with a time of 30.003 seconds. NiSWC competitor Steve Sheehan finished-off the week with a time of 30.006 seconds, a time later matched by Eszenyi. Ken H O’Keefe’s (Eastern Canada) time of 30.015 seconds was good enough for fourth overall and rounding out the top five was Tom Moustakas (New York) at 30.019 seconds.

There is a new name atop the season standings after five weeks of online racing: Daley is now in front of Josh Berry (Mid-South) by the slim margin of two points. Jordan Hightower (Mid-South) sits in the third postion 136 points out of the lead. Texan Adam Gilliland holds down the fourth postion 179 points back and completing the top five is Tyler D Hudson (Mid-South) who is 207 points back.
