Diamonds are for Koehler
March 14th, 2013 by Jaime Baker
Week Six of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series stayed on the west coast for a trip to the Diamond in the Desert: the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 90 laps of close quarter racing where on tap for the drivers of iRacing’s second tier division around the mile and half oval just up the road from the famous Las Vegas Strip.
Brenden Koehler topped the standing following the week of racing after picking-up the win in the weekly Friday night Strength of Field event (SoF), collecting 305 total points in the bargain. Dustin Lengert drove to a second place finish and 291 points, while Simon Crochart escaped Las Vegas with a third place finish and 278 points. Ian Plasch and Josh Hulsey rounded-out the top five in overall points for the week.
Chuck Sweeting took the green flag 23 times during the week, to top the list of starts for the series. Chuck collected nine top five finishes for his efforts and started from the pole once. Dirk A. Kalinowski registered six victories at LVMS during the week to top the wins column, while Sweeting’s nine top fives would top the series in that category.
Alex Scribner claimed the overall pole for the week, lapping the mile and half circuit in 30.475 seconds, a couple of hundredths quicker than Christian Pedersen (30.496s). Dustin Lengert was third followed by Jeff Ramsdell and Brenden Koehler was fifth fastest on the week.
When the dust settled, Scribner remained the overall points leader following Vegas with 1,334 points for the season — good for a 43 point lead over Crochart who sits ahead of Ashley Miller in third. Miller is 207 points out of first following six weeks of competition, while Justin Kirby is fourth followed by Tom Moustakas.
The NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series heads east for a trip to the last coliseum of its kind: Bristol Motor Speedway. Drivers will tackle the half mile bull ring for the seventh week of the season. Can Scribner come out of Bristol with a clean nose? Will tempers flare in Thunder Valley as sim racers compete in such close quarters? Found out next week only on inRacingNews.com
