For eight weeks, the top youth drivers on iRacing will battle it out in Legends cars for a chance to make the eNASCAR IGNITE Series playoffs. Taking on a mix of the top short ovals and road courses on the service, only 50 will have a chance to move on to the playoffs and compete for a $10,000 racing scholarship! Check in every Thursday for a look at this week’s eNASCAR IGNITE Series event:

This Week: South Boston Speedway

South Boston Speedway returns to the IGNITE regular season for the second year in a row. The .4-mile track hosted NASCAR Xfinity Series and Gander Outdoors Truck Series races into the 2000s, and boasts a number of legendary Late Model track champions, from Ray Hendrick and Sam Ard to Geoff Bodine and Jimmy Hensley.

Last year, Travis Weber was the big winner in South Boston with a 117-point week, though two dozen drivers all surpassed the 100-point mark. Those drivers included current eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series drivers Garrett Lowe and Zack Novak, each of whom won at the track last year, and Andy Trupiano, who enters this weekend tied for third in points and took a victory from the Virginia short track in 2018.

Last Week: Charlotte Motor Speedway (Legends Oval)

Charlotte is the only facility to host two different events in the IGNITE regular season, and rightfully so: it’s the birthplace of the Legends formula, which was unveiled in 1992. While the two layouts used during the season are different, with the Legends Oval in Week 1 and Legends Road Course Long in Week 4, strong performances in Charlotte are key to advancing to the IGNITE playoffs.

After Week 1, it’s Kentucky’s Cayden Rush atop the IGNITE point standings with 133, as he was one of 11 drivers to take a victory in last week’s sessions. Michael Bumgarner is second at 125, while five drivers—including iRacing World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car World Championship driver Cole Cabre—are tied for third in the standings with 124.
