iRacing 101: iRacing Dollars and iRacing Credits

Welcome to iRacing 101, where each week we’ll go through some of the many features that make iRacing the World’s Premier Motorsport Simulation. From highlighting our features to some of the top series and forms of racing you’ll encounter when you get behind the wheel.

This week’s topic: What’s the difference between iRacing Dollars and iRacing Credits?

Both iRacing Dollars and iRacing Credits can be used towards subscriptions, cars, tracks, and sessions on iRacing. The difference between the two is that iRacing Dollars have been paid for, whether as a gift from another person or on your own through an account recharge, while iRacing Credits have been awarded by iRacing for things like race participation, referral bonuses, and contests.

How do I check my iRacing Dollars and Credits balances?

To check your iRacing Dollars and Credits balances in the UI, go to the top right of the screen and click the iRacing Balance button, located between the Notifications button and your Cart. This button will show both balances separately, as well as your total.

Do iRacing Dollars or Credits expire?

iRacing Credits expire two years after they are awarded. The iRacing Credits expiration policy was adopted on December 1, 2022, meaning that any credits that were present on a user’s account at that time would expire if not used by December 1, 2024.

iRacing Dollars (including iRacing Gift Cards) do not expire.

How can I ensure that I spend all of my iRacing Credits before they expire?

iRacing Credits are automatically used in the order that they were obtained. To ensure these credits are being used and to check when your credits are expiring, click your helmet in the top right of the iRacing UI and click the “Account” tab. Under the Account Balance section, you can toggle whether or not to use your iRacing Credits towards your subscription, cars, and tracks.

For a further breakdown of your iRacing Credits and when they expire, hit the “Click to reveal” button under Account Balance. Below the “Add Funds” button, you’ll see a tab that says “When do my credits expire?” Click this tab to see a breakdown by date of each of your remaining iRacing Credits.
