iRacing Off-Road Championship Series Race Preview: Bark River 1

The iRacing Off-Road Championship Series returns to action on Wednesday night with Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2023 campaign, this time heading to Bark River International Raceway. Coverage kicks off at 8PM ET across iRacing social media channels with All-Star action featuring top real-world drivers and Twitch streamers, while the 24 top off-road sim racers in the world will resume their battle for a $25,000 purse at 9PM ET.

Last Race: Factory Simsport teammates Nicholas Dachelet and Keaton Swane were the big winners in this year’s first visit to “The Big House” at Crandon International Raceway. For Dachelet, it was the first win of his career in the series; Swane, meanwhile, grabbed his second race win in as many weeks to hold onto his championship lead over defending series champion Connor Barry.

Last Year: Four different racers took wins in the four rounds from Bark River last year, with Cam Pedersen and Josh Fox splitting the two events in the first doubleheader. Pedersen led from flag to flag in the first race, while Fox held off Tommi Hallman by just .029 seconds at the line in one of the most exciting finishes of the year.

Track Facts: If Crandon is short course off-road racing’s answer to Daytona, Bark River International Raceway is its Talladega. Located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the track is owned and operated by the Bark River Lions Club and has hosted racing for nearly half a century. Bark River’s annual August date is usually one of the most consequential in determining series champions, both because it appears late on the schedule and because the track features so many unique corners and high-flying jumps.

Next Up: Following Bark River, the iRacing Off-Road Championship Series will head to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park on Wednesday, July 19. The Arizona-based motorsports complex hosts everything from off-road events to drag racing and boat racing in the real world, and also serves as a testing ground and driving school for top racers of all disciplines.
