Martin Krönke resumed his winning ways at Interlagos.

2016 iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series champion Martin  Krönke picked-up where he left off last year in the opening round of the 2017 season, scoring a dominant win at Interlagos.   Krönke started from pole and was never headed, coming home some 7s clear of five time world champion Greger Huttu with Aleksi Uusi-Jaakkola an additional 7.6s adrift in third place in a sim race that saw few position changes over the course of 71 laps.

Indeed fourth-placed finisher Buono Huis was the first finisher to improve on his starting position, having qualified P4 in his World Championship debut.

Olli Pahkala came home fifth ahead of another impressive newcomer, Freek Schothorst, while Michael Dinkel, Graham Carroll, Martti Pietilä and Joni Törmälä, with Pietilä charging from 19th on the grid to earn his ninth place finish.

Round Two of the sim racing series is slated for Sebring International Raceway on March 18.  Meanwhile, watch this space for Jonathan Simon’s complete recap of the race later this week.
