Seven up! Steven Wilson breaks single-season wins record; will race for eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series title after Michigan win
August 20th, 2025 by Justin Melillo

Even when the universe is stacked against him, the 2025 edition of Steven Wilson continues to be inevitable in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series.
The Spire Motorsports driver entered the eNASCAR Playoffs with more wins than anyone else, a whopping total of six. A seventh would not only mean a trip to the 2025 eNASCAR Championship race in Uptown Charlotte, but it would also break a record that had previously been held by William Byron eSports’ Nick Ottinger all the way back in 2013 for the most wins in a single season.
For the majority of the Playoff-opening night at Michigan International Speedway, it did not look as though Wilson would be the one to visit virtual victory lane. A late pit stop due to not having enough fuel to make it the distance all but shut the door on a potential win, and nearly wiped out his entire mulligan’s worth of points he had built up over the Regular Season. Somehow, Wilson got the exact caution he needed at the perfect moment. As the field took on eNASCAR Overtime, Wilson assumed the lead on slightly older tires. Track position was key all night, and proved to be the winning play all along.

“There’s a golden horseshoe. It’s somewhere, I’ve got it,” Wilson joked post-race. “That was so lucky, because I was going to run out of gas, and I had to pit under green. We were really fast. I think we deserved to be up there on speed. Me and Femi (Olatunbosun) both had to pit, we both thought, with short fueling, we didn’t know if we could make it to the end. It just turned out to be the right strategy with the caution. I don’t know who caused it, but I thank them very much.”
The win marks Wilson’s 16th career victory in the series as well, breaking him out of another tie on the all-time wins list, now the sole proprietor of fifth place, moving 2014 Series Champion Michael Conti back to sixth. The win locks Wilson place in the eNASCAR Championship 4, the event to be held at the virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway, but live and in-person at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on October 7th.

THE EVENT
Wilson qualified in ninth, but up front for the second-straight race was William Byron eSports’ Tucker Minter. Like Indianapolis and Pocono, Michigan would be a battle for clean air and track position, with the ability to pass as tough as ever.
Immediately, the caution flew for an incident on Lap 1 involving Six Karma’s Eddie Kerner and Steven Wilson, the two backend teammates colliding in the top-five. Neither would sustain significant damage, but Kerner would be the loser in the scenario, restarting at the back of the field. Wilson kept his track position and the restart flew once again on Lap 5.
Minter led the way with help from Apex Racing Team’s Christopher Hill right behind. The two were step-in-step, working together flawlessly through the night.

The race, scheduled for 70 laps, required at least one pit stop during the night. That opportunity came during the second caution of the night, which the entire field took advantage of, keeping Minter in control with Hill right behind.
Wilson, as well as Kansas City Pioneers’ Casey Kirwan, were able to separate themselves from the rest of the field with Minter and Hill as the laps wound down. Kirwan tried to make a move first, but was unable to break up the Minter-Hill train and lost the podium spot to Wilson with about 10 laps to go. Wilson managed to squeeze his way in-between the two, but even with the shake-and-bake squad separated, he couldn’t manage to get fully in front as the laps continued to wind down.
Suddenly, pit road turned into a frenzy, and Wilson was among those on it. It wasn’t fully known if everyone else could make it or not, but as each lap ticked away, it became more and more evident that the rest of the field could make it to the end.

Minter was in prime position, leading 65 of the first 67 laps, only losing out on two of those laps to Wilson who was able to snipe them at the line. Entering Turn 1 with three laps to go, everything suddenly changed.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Minter got completely sideways, allowing for both Hill and Kirwan to get alongside. For the first time all night, Minter was not the control car. Kirwan, two and a half laps away from his first win since the 2023 season, looked to be in the catbird position, but it all suddenly changed as Garrett Lowe (BS+COMPETITION) spun out in the same area that Minter got sideways.

As the field came down pit road, Wilson and his teammate Femi Olatunbosun stayed out. In the single eNASCAR Overtime attempt, Wilson did exactly what he needed to claim his record-breaking win and advance to the title fight for the fourth-straight season.
PLAYOFF PROBLEMATICS

While Wilson triumphed, many others in the fight for the Championship 4 found trouble through the 73-lap extravaganza in the Irish Hills.
The second caution involved Jim Beaver eSports Kollin Keister, who got loose in front of Team Dillon Esports’ Taylor Hurst. The two made contact, and it was lights out for the first-time playoff contender. The very next restart, both eRacr’s Tyler Garey and Letarte Esports’ Quami Scott went sideways on the backstretch. Channel 199 Sim Racing’s Zack Novak had nowhere to go and was collected, ruining his chances early on as well.
Both Dylan Duval (Channel 199 Sim Racing) and Jordy Lopez (BS+COMPETITION) ran inside the top-10 throughout the night, but ultimately, both wound up outside the top-15 by night’s end. The biggest jaw-dropping moment came in the final laps of the night. Tucker Minter led 65 laps from the pole. While he restarted sixth on the eNASCAR Overtime attempt, his night wound up going the completely wrong direction as he spun off of Turn 2 on the final lap. Minter came home 35th instead of locking up his spot in the 2025 Championship 4.
