The first eNASCAR College iRacing Series Tournament, powered by the PlayVS College League, kicks off on Wednesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Titled the Queen City Crown, 120 collegiate competitors are set to run the gauntlet, with the First and Second rounds of the Tournament showcasing all 120 drivers and their schools, with only 39 drivers advancing to Week 2, which will include the Semifinals and Final Round.

From August 26th to September 4th, over 300 eligible collegiate iRacers took to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Time Attack in hopes of qualifying for the inaugural eNASCAR College iRacing Series Tournament. These students collectively put down more than 45,000 laps around the 1.5-mile quad oval in Concord, North Carolina. Arizona State University’s Bradley Erickson laid down the fastest lap, a time of 30.017 seconds. The gap down to 120th was only 0.117 seconds, as The Ohio State University’s Tre Miller was the last to qualify in with a time of 30.134 seconds. By the standards of a standard NASCAR Craftsman Truck, that distance is under two truck lengths.

The first week of the first Tournament of the season will stream live on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at eNASCAR.com/live and across all of iRacing’s social media channels.

LAST RACE

The last time we saw the eNASCAR College iRacing Series in action was back in April earlier this year, at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Championship race, with 25 qualified drivers from the course of the entire 2024-25 season, gave all drivers an equal opportunity to race for the big prize of $10,000 in scholarships for winning the race and title. California State University, Fullerton’s Logan Clampitt went toe-to-toe the entire night with the University of Iowa’s Steven Wilson, the two trading blows throughout the night. Clampitt ultimately prevailed in the closing laps to take his second career title in the series.

LAST SEASON

Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the eighth and final regular racing round of the 2024-25 eNASCAR College iRacing Series season. With spots in the Championship top-25 still up for grabs, 40 drivers took to the Speedway to duke it out for 90 laps of racing. The event was slowed seven times for 21 laps, which enabled the University of Calgary’s Connor Yeroschak to get fresh tires at the perfect time late in the going. On the final restart, Yeroschak made his move, taking the win in a photo finish against the University of Iowa’s Steven Wilson and the University of Maine at Augusta’s Parker White at the line.

TRACK INFO

Charlotte Motor Speedway is dubbed “America’s Home For Racing.” The famed 1.5-mile D-shaped oval based in Concord, NC opened in 1960 and has managed a lot of firsts in the NASCAR community over the years, including the installation of night lighting and the opening and utilization of the infield Roval. It all stems from the fact that the track is located right around the majority of NASCAR teams and their race shops in the state.

ABOUT THE SERIES

The eNASCAR College iRacing Series powered by PlayVS College League gives college students from the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for their share of $60,000 in scholarships. Using the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series vehicles, 120 drivers qualify for each Tournament by registering and posting their fastest lap times in the Time Attack through the iRacing UI. With hundreds of colleges and universities represented in each Time Attack, drivers are competing not only against the greater iRacing community, but also their own classmates, for a spot on the newly-minted bracket.

Week 1 of the Queen City Crown starts on Wednesday, September 17th, at 7:00 p.m. ET. Week 2 will take place one week later, on Wednesday, September 24th. The next Tournament is the Clash on the Beach at Daytona International Speedway. Time Attacks open on September 30th and run until October 9th.
