The hot streak continued this week for iRacing-to-Reality sensation Ivan Machado Perez during another weekend visit to VIRginia International Raceway. Earlier this week, on June 11th and 12th, Machado and the rest of the Skip Barber Race Series returned to the venue located in Alton, Virginia, this time to race upon the track’s North Course, a 2.25-mile layout with 17 turns to traverse.

Entering as the points leader and most recent race winner, Machado scored another pole position for the first race of the weekend, taking a third straight win as well. By only setting the second-quickest lap time in the opening race, however, Ivan was slotted into the second starting spot for Race 2. No sweat, as they say, as Ivan was still able to get to the front and claim a fourth-straight victory on the season. Both races on the North Course went green flag the entire way. With these two victories, Machado now adds these two North Course victories to the two South Course victories he picked up back in May.

Through eight races, the Spaniard’s worst finish is still second place, where he finished in his first four races of the season at Sebring International Raceway and NOLA Motorsports Park. Machado leads the standings by 36 points, more than a full race awards at 35 points. Two races at Watkins Glen, two races at New Jersey Motorsports Park, two races at the full VIRginia International Raceway, and two races at Circuit of the Americas still remain on the schedule this season.

“The season, so far, has been very good for me, better than I initially expected,” Machado said after his latest victories. “Since the start of the season, I arrived with a mindset of trying to improve myself every time I jumped in the car, and I think this is a key part towards having achieved these results so far. I am also trying to work on plans for 2026 in order to carry on with racing, and looking for sponsorships to make next season happen, as there are some very interesting projects on the horizon.”

“I think I cannot end without thanking both iRacing and Skip Barber for putting this opportunity together and allowing guys from the sim racing scene to showcase the speed we can have in a real car, and invite everyone to enroll in this year’s Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series to bring more speed into the scene.”

Through the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series in 2024, Ivan was one of three finalists to attend the Skip Barber Racing School at VIRginia International Raceway late last year. During the program, Machado and the other finalists competed both on and off the track, lapping in the Skip Barber Racing School fleet of Mygale Formula 4 race cars while also working on their marketability, media skills, and other non-racing aspects of being a racecar driver.

The same Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series returns in 2025, starting on June 20th, with Hot Lap Qualifiers for the first event of the season at Sebring International Raceway. The series will once again contest in iRacing’s Formula 4 car, with the six-race series offering up top sim racers the opportunity to translate their skills into the real-world Skip Barber Formula Race Series, with prizes valued at over $500,000 on the line.

Elvis Rankin, Diogo Pinto, and Victor Miranda are all previous champions of the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series. Miranda joined Machado and eNASCAR driver Matt Bussa at the school, where Machado won the top prize—a seat in the real-world series.

Machado continues to impress at every step of the way. His next challenge will be at Watkins Glen in July.
