The fifth eNASCAR College iRacing Series Tournament, powered by the PlayVS College League, kicks off on Wednesday night at the famed “Paperclip”, better known as Martinsville Speedway. Titled the Old Dominion Classic, 120 collegiate competitors are set to run the aforementioned gauntlet, with the First and Second rounds of the Tournament showcasing all 120 drivers and their schools, with only 39 drivers advancing to Week 2, which will include the Semifinals and Final Round.

From February 24th to March 5th, over 190 eligible collegiate iRacers took to the official Time Attack in hopes of qualifying for the fifth eNASCAR College iRacing Series Tournament. These students collectively put down about 22,000 laps around the 0.526-mile short track. Sacramento State’s Dylan Ault laid down the fastest lap in the official Time Attack with a time of 19.605 seconds.

The first week of the fifth Tournament of the season, the second tournament in the Spring Semester, and the penultimate event of the 2025-26 season, will stream live on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at eNASCAR.com/live and across all of iRacing’s social media channels.

LAST TOURNAMENT

Along the Irish Hills of virtual Michigan, the state and college of Maine stood tall amongst the hopefuls looking to claim the Great Lakes Gauntlet one month ago. The University of Maine at Machias’ Daniel Faulkingham claimed his third-career eNASCAR College iRacing Series win in February at Michigan International Speedway, outlasting hopefuls such as Michigan’s own Matthew Zwack, Horry Georgetown’s Timothy Holmes, and the other 36 competitors that made the Semifinals on that day.

TRACK INFO

How long has NASCAR been racing at Martinsville Speedway? Since the very beginning. On July 4, 1947 more than 4,000 fans jammed into the one-year-old dirt half-mile race track to watch Fonty Flock beat his brother Tim, Buck Baker and sanctioning body founder Bill France himself in NASCAR’s sixth-ever race.

The race track that Clay Earles carved out of the Virginia countryside was shaped like a paper clip and just 137 feet more than a half mile in length (.526-mile, to be exact.) Other than an asphalt paving job in 1955 and the addition of more durable concrete lanes in the 12-degree banked corners 21 years later, Martinsville Speedway, the only remaining NASCAR venue from the 1947 season, is the same configuration it was when the gates were first opened. Oh, and then there’s the addition of grandstands to increase the seating capacity from the original total of 750 to the 85,000 it boasts today.

Now owned by International Speedway Corporation, Martinsville Speedway hosts a full slate of NASCAR series annually. With short, tight, modestly-banked corners, the competition is tight and can be quite physical. After 500 laps around Martinsville, few, if any of the cars are unmarked, and race winners know they’ve earned their trophies. Martinsville makes its return to eNASCAR competition as a whole for the first time since 2011.

ABOUT THE SERIES

The eNASCAR College iRacing Series powered by PlayVS College League gives college students from the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for their share of $60,000 in scholarships. Using the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series vehicles, 120 drivers qualify for each Tournament by registering and posting their fastest lap times in the Time Attack through the iRacing UI. With hundreds of colleges and universities represented in each Time Attack, drivers are competing not only against the greater iRacing community, but also their own classmates, for a spot on the newly-minted bracket.

Week 1 of the Old Dominion Classic starts on Wednesday, March 18th, at 7:00 p.m. ET. Week 2 will take place one week later, on Wednesday, March 25th. The final Tournament is the Sunset Splash at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Time Attacks open on March 31st and run until April 9th.
