Brasil Lemans Series has started the 1st Brazilian iRacing.com multi-makes championship of the year. The league, which started its activities at the end of 2013, already had followed an original way on the last championships organized by them, making never seen before car combinations by the members of Club Brasil. SuperGT, who now follows the same car combination of GT3 Challenge official series of iRacing, had already innovated on their 1st season, combining the McLaren, Cadillac and the Ford GT40, running them together on the same class, equalizing them by weight penalty, proportionally distributed on the cars. Today, with the GT3 Challenge, the league decided to follow the same line to find a even more balanced competition between the cars, and keep their originality.

Besides running the same car combination, the SuperGT schedule is made after a public survey, choosing tracks that may be more popular and attractive for this kind of series. Their calendar, which consists of 6 races at total, done on a biweekly period, counts with Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Brands Hatch, Zolder, Daytona, Phillip Island and Bathurst. The hosted sessions have a realistic weather configuration and open setups, with a one hour racing.

The 1st race was held on February 5th, Wednesday, at the Montreal track under overcast weather, with 27 cars on the grid, with six of them being McLarens among 21 RUFs -Track version. The rolling start had Renato Silva on the pole, running the RUF nº 10, alongside with Fernando Santii, also racing a RUF with the nº 9. The best qualified McLaren came at 4th position, with Andrew Lauret driving the nº 01, and with Anderson Mota on the RUF 84 caming at 3rd place, on the inside line.

With a clean race start, Renato Silva keeps the lead, followed by Fernando Santii. Andrew Lauret jumped to the 3rd spot, showing that it doesn’t need a RUF to be fast. It didn’t take long for some cars to start having some damages on the 1st lap, with some contacts on the back of the field.

The first three at the beginning of the race: Renato Silva 1st, Santii 2nd and Andrew Lauret 3rd.

Alex Doca started having some trouble with the RUF nº 3, damaged on the second lap.

Andrew Lauret keeped pushing and overtook Santii at lap 3, leaving one more RUF behind and getting the 2nd place. Santii had Anderson Mota on his tail then, caming to fight for the 3rd place. But only a few corners later after Santii lost his position to Lauret, Santii is bumped by Mota at L’épingle hairpin, which results on a flip-over that damages severely Santii’s car.

Some people didn’t wanted to see the result of the contact between Mota and Santii, who flipped over after getting bumped by car 84. But the worst was yet to come…

After the flip over, Santii is hit by Cleber Gomes, on the RUF 5, suffering even more damages. Both had to head their ways to the pits.

Cleber decided to leave the race after the crash with Santii, being the 1st car to abandon the track. Santii came back after some time repairing his car, but would leave it for good with 19 laps to the end. Ahead of them, Renato Silva still had the lead, but followed by Andrew Lauret driving the McLaren. With a faster pace than the rest of the field, they started to leave the 3rd place, with Wendel Parra on the RUF 11 far behind. But Renato Silva was even more faster and let Andrew Lauret smaller on the mirrors, reaching some lapped cars at lap 8. Passing them by quickly, he let Andrew in trouble, since the McLaren driver had to work a bit more to overtake the lapped cars.

Renato Silva worked his way very well at the beginning of the race and already was far away with the lead, getting ahead the lapped cars quickly. Andrew took more time and lost contact

Things didn’t go well to Marcio Amadeu, on the RUF 18. After hitting the Champion’s Wall and the pit wall, he had serious damage on the engine, leaving the race. Anderson Mota was involved, but could keep on the race. Marcio was the 2nd driver to quit the race.

At lap 14, Renato Silva lost the lead when he had to pit for refuelling, giving to Andrew the 1st position. Wendel Parra, who was at 3rd place, also pitted right away on the same lap. Andrew tried to take advantage of the situation by inputting a stronger pace while he stayed on the track, but when he had to pit at lap 17, he came back to 2nd place.

There was 2 pitstops on the race and leader Renato Silva came back to the pitlane with 10 laps to the end, on the 28th lap. This time, Renato had his tires changed. When he got back, Andrew Lauret was the leader again, triyng the same strategy than before, pitting later or even trying to no stop anymore. But he had to refuel at lap 36, without the need to change tires, since he already had done it on the 1st pit. Renato came back to the lead of the race while that happened.

A lonely Renato Silva wins the 1st SuperGT race.

Renato wins the race with 26 seconds ahead of Andrew, who tried very hard but did not managed to catch up the RUF nº 10. Wendel Parra finished 3rd on the RUF 11. Anderson Mota came 4th and Fabio Sakita 5th, closing the top5.

Alex Belão (ahead) and Thiago Sanson: the hard charges of the race. The drivers finished at 8th and 9th position, having to fight to the very last corner. Alex, who started the race at 5th place, had to climb the whole field after getting far behind on the 22nd position. Sanson had to work too, starting on the 20th place.

Renato volta então a liderar a prova enquanto Andrew reabastecia.
