Throughout the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series season, we’re going to profile some of the series’ top drivers every Thursday. Be sure to check back each week to see who we’re featuring next! Heading into next week’s race from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, we turn the spotlight to defending race winner Jimmy Mullis of Richmond Raceway eSports:

Hometown: Midland, NC

When did you start sim racing? At a young age I played all EA Sports NASCAR games, and then in 2013 is when I found iRacing and truly started “sim racing” from a competitive standpoint.

Pre-race meal of choice? Chicken alfredo.

What’s on your pre-race playlist to get hyped up? Any rock music that was in the NASCAR games soundtracks from when I was a kid.

My real-world daily driver is: Chevrolet Camaro SS

Do you have any pets? I have a dog, his name is Champ and I got him at the end of our 2020 season. He is a Husky Collie mix and he is around 5 months old.

How would you describe your driving style? I like a car to be free, but not aggressively free. One of my strong suits you could say is I feel like I’m good at holding a strong and consistent pace without roasting the tires off of it.

My biggest accomplishment on iRacing is: I’ve won some big events over the years in different leagues and different one off races. Nothing truly beats winning in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series though. I’d say winning the 4 races I’ve been fortunate enough to win are pretty big deals to me, and then finishing 5th in the overall standings in both 2019 and 2020 is a pretty big accomplishment as well.

The coolest part of being on my eNASCAR team is: RReSports is more than just a team to me, they’ve truly become a huge part of my life and I consider those guys family. I’ve been very fortunate to build a great relationship with not only the great people at Richmond Raceway, but also our partners at Sunoco and Sim Seats over the last few years. I’d say the coolest part is (when covid isn’t around) we get to go to the races and they treat us like we are part of the crew really. It’s been an awesome experience the last couple of years and I hope we get to return to those types of events soon!

When I’m not running in eNASCAR, my favorite cars to run on iRacing are: I love the Super Late Models the most outside of the eNASCAR Series stuff. Growing up I always was at the local tracks with my dad and grandparents every single weekend so it’s safe to say short track racing is where I’ve always had a true passion. Concord Speedway, Caraway Speedway, Bowman Gray Stadium are just a few that I grew up around. When I find the time like I said I usually like to run some leagues with the Super’s in them or really anything short track related just to have some fun.

If you could add any non-Cup Series track to the eNASCAR schedule, which would you pick and why? Iowa Speedway. I think this track has some really cool character to it, and gives that “short track vibe” with the racing it produces. You have a lot of mobility as well, the bottom and middle in 1&2 are pretty equal, and then in 3&4 you can run from the apron to the wall and it’s all fast. I just feel like the track puts on a great show, and I think our eNASCAR All-Star events we did in 2019 at that track showed that it has great potential.

Congratulations! You’ve won the lottery and are going to start a NASCAR Cup Series team. Which driver are you hiring first and why? Kyle Busch. I think Kyle in my opinion is the best in the sport right now, and has been for a while. You know he’s going out there with the mindset of wanting to win races and he can absolutely drive the wheels off of anything you put him in.

It’s the season finale and you’re in the Championship 4. Your biggest rival is leading the field to the green flag and you’re starting second. How are you getting the job done? Well hopefully I time the restart pretty good and can find a way to get down for turn 1 and then in a perfect world find a way to slingshot down the backstretch to pass him. Now, since the world usually doesn’t work out that perfectly, I’m just going to do everything I can to make a move on them without wrecking us. I take pride in trying to race clean and fair so if I’m in that situation that won’t change, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t rough them up a little bit! 🙂
