The Grand Prix Turn Racing iRacing Series makes its first American stop of the 2023 season on Thursday, as well as its first oval stop ever, with a visit to Texas Motor Speedway. The action kicks off at 19:00 GMT (3PM ET) and will stream live across iRacing social media channels.

Last Race: Rookie Matt Emery made it two winners in as many weeks when he took the checkered flag at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto last Thursday. Starting on the front row alongside polesitter Pablo Espes, Emery first took the lead heading into Curva Dry Sac on the first lap, and he’d lead 23 of the race’s 33 laps before holding off series veteran Michele Costantini by .323 seconds after a last-lap challenge. Przemyslaw Marek Lemanek completed the podium despite spinning off while making a challenge for the lead of his own.

Last Season: The second of six new additions to the 2023 schedule, Texas’ inclusion breaks ground in the campaign by putting the Dallara iR-01 on an oval for the first time in pro esports action. It joins Detroit Grand Prix at Belle Isle and Pocono Raceway as part of an all-new fleet of American tracks in this year’s campaign.

Track Facts: A mainstay of American open-wheel racing from its opening in 1997 until earlier this year, Texas Motor Speedway brings the thrill of high-speed racing to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It’s been one of the fastest ovals in America for the past quarter century, with drivers able to turn 1.5-mile laps in under 23 seconds early in its history. Along with a repave in 2017, Turns 1 and 2 were reprofiled, going from 24 degrees of banking and 60 feet of track width to 20 degrees of banking and 80 feet of racing surface.

Next Up: The fourth round of the 2023 Grand Prix Turn Racing iRacing Series sends the series to Silverstone Circuit on Thursday, October 5. Maarten van Loozenoord was victorious at Silverstone in the iR-01 in 2021, winning his second straight race and third in the first five races of that campaign after leading 11 of the race’s 40 laps.
