Hauck Tops at MIS

Week Eight of Season One 2012 saw the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series travel to one of the longest ovals in the US of A.  A two mile, high-banked oval located in Cambridge Township, Michigan International Speedway is known for very high speeds as well as exciting racing. During the week, 903 sim racers entered at least one online race while 288 of them turned one or more qualifying laps.

Thursday’s SoF race took place at 8:30pm EST and had 25 drivers make the race. Phil Juhring (New Jersey) continued his hot streak as he qualified on the pole for the race but was quickly passed by Brandon Hauck (Eastern Canada), who started in second. Hauck would dominate the race, leading 83 of the 90 laps in route to the victory. For his win, Hauck received 233 points. Juhring finished the race in the second position, after starting on the pole, and received 223 laps. Thomas Davis (Mid-South) finished in the third position, after leading three laps midway through the race. Davis received 213 points for his finish. Will Bell (Mid-South) and Jeffrey Parker (Florida) round out the Top Five. Bell would receive 203 points for fourth while Parker received 194 points for fifth.

At MIS as in the Season 1 standings, Juhring finds himself in pole position.

As the win came to an end, Juhring found himself on top of the weekly standings. Juhring used is strong second place finish in the SoF race to get himself to the top. Hauck finished the week in the second position after winning the SoF race and running three more races on the week. Hauck would finish the week with three wins and 208 points. Parker finished the week in the third position with 194 points after only running one race on the week. Davis finished the week in the fourth position with 191 points after making races starts on the week, winning three and finishing in the Top Five’s in nine of those ten races. Brian Grubs (Mid-South) rounded out the Top Five after making two starts. Grubs finished the week with 189 points.

With his second place finish in the SoF race, Phil Juhring catapulted himself to the top position in the season standings. Juhring now has 1379 points on the season with a 73 point lead over second. To top it all off, Juhring has one less week counted so his lead will ultimately increase next week.  Brad Mahar (New England) was able to maintain his second position after Week Eight after increasing his points total by 145 points, bringing his total to 1306. Brandon Buie (Atlantic) dropped from the top spot to third after Michigan. Buie was only able to net 48 points during Week Eight and bringing his total to 1290. Jeffrey Parker and John Bunton (Carolina) swapped position this past week. Parker jumped the fourth spot after netting 194 points and brought his total to 1265. Bunton dropped to the fifth spot after received 165 points at Michigan. Bunton has brought his season total to 1239 points.

When asked about his chances to win the championship, Juhring said “The championship is certainly within reach. I missed Daytona which hurts, because of all the points offered up that week. That being said, I’ve got two wins and two seconds the last four weeks to go along with a win at Dover to start off the season. We head to Kentucky this week, a track in which I was very good at last season.”

When the week came to an end, Jukka Savolainen (Finland) was on top of the qualifying charts. Savolainen turned a blazing 39.022 second lap around the two mile track. Juhring finished the week in the second position after turning a 39.081 second lap. Hauck was third with a 39.095 while Andrew Shirley (Mid-South) was fourth with a 39.108. Davis rounded out the Top Five for the week after turning a 39.166 second lap.

Next week the NiCBS will travel to Kentucky Speedway. Week Nine is an important point in the season because that is when drop weeks will come into effect. Will anyone be able to keep pace will Juhring or will he run away with the championship? Find out next week at inRacingNews!
