Stephen Simpson grabs pole for Northeast Grand Prix

 by Dave Moulthrop  –   Cape Town, South Africa’s Stephen Simpson will lead the field to the green flag  Saturday for the first visit of The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship to Lime Rock Park in Lime Rock, CT,  The formation of the United Sportscar Series last year caused the reset of all records allowing Simpson the gaurantee of a new track record for the PC class which last ran Lime Rock in 2013 with The American Lemans Series. Simpson’s JDC/Miller Motorsports ORECA FLM09 fastest lap was set during lap 5 of his 10 laps at an average speed 108.172 mph around the 1.5 circuit. Second fastest time was set was set by the PC Prototype of Conor Daley and James French 0.642 seconds off the pace. The qualifing session was cut short by a red flag for the the crash of BAR1 Motorsports PC and ran only the minimum distance required due to the 6 PM deadline for on track activities.
