2025 IMSA Esports Global Championship | Round 1 at Road Atlanta | Race Preview
October 31st, 2025 by Justin Melillo
The IMSA Esports Global Championship returns on Sunday, November 2nd, with the first round of the 2025 season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Entering its fourth season, 52 teams are ready to race for the crown across two class championships, including 20 teams competing in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class and 32 teams taking on the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class.
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is the first of four events in the 2025 season, joining races at Sebring, a split-class event at Long Beach and VIRginia, and Daytona to cap off the year. A $25,000 prize pool is on the line, with top teams in each class collecting $5,000 at the end of the season. Last year, Williams Esports Chillblast and Team Redline were victorious in their respective classes.
Two hours and 40 minutes will be on the clock. Points will be on the line not only in the race, but also in qualifying. Who will manage the traffic—and the clock—among the twists, turns, and hills of Road Atlanta?

LAST SEASON
Once again, Road Atlanta kicks off the start of a new virtual season. It was the same last season, and the results would be a big factor towards the standings at the end of the year. From the Qualifying results, it looked as though the day would be a Team Redline sweep among both classes, but neither of those two entries would be in contention at the end. In the GTP class, the #20 BMW M Team Redline entry was caught up in an early cross-class-crash. The #170 Team Redline Ferrari GTD also got collected in a collision with a car from another class, ending their day.
This gave way to the #5 Williams Esports Chillblast BMW and #89 BS+COMPETITION BMW battling for the GTP win. The #5 of Jaden Munoz and Matt Farrow would claim the win, and ultimately the championship by the end of the season. In similar fashion, the third Team Redline entry, another GTD Ferrari, would pounce on their teammate’s issues to take the lead and win at Road Atlanta, a win that would also lead to a title two months later at Daytona.
TRACK FACTS
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is a 2.54-mile, 12-turn course located in Braselton, Georgia, just 35 miles north of Atlanta. Known for hosting many sports car races, including the popular Petit Le Mans event, Road Atlanta is filled with elevation changes, technical sections and can be a challenge to any professional racer. Opened in 1970, the current day Grand Prix circuit layout has been in use since 1998.
NEXT RACE
After Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the series will take a week off before returning on November 16th for the second race of the season at Sebring International Raceway. Last season, Sebring was the third race of the four-race season, and Williams Esports Chillblast (GTP) and AO Racing by Coanda (GTD), a.k.a. the ‘Rexy’ car, were victorious.
Each race of the IMSA Esports Global Championship will be broadcasted live on IMSA’s and iRacing’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitch social media channels with the Countdown to Green pre-race show beginning at 1:45 p.m. ET (18:45 GMT). Race coverage begins at 2:00 p.m. ET.
