For more than 30 years, Caterham’s Academy series has been a mainstay of British motorsport, welcoming thousands of novice drivers since its inception in 1995. Racers receive a fully guided experience as they enter the world of motorsport, and they get to keep the car at the end of the season—which they can then upgrade to compete in Caterham’s higher-level championships.
While it’s part of a popular racing series, Caterham’s Academy-spec car happens to be road-legal. It produces 130 horsepower out of its Horse HR13 engine, while featuring a six-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential. The tire spec is also designed for low grip in order to teach drivers strong car control skills.
