Why race pick-up trucks? For starters, they’re arguably the most popular automotive vehicle in America, with upwards of 2 million new pickups sold every year in the United States. And they’re a blast to race, particularly the trucks of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series. With 625 horsepower pushing their 3450 pounds around super speedways, ovals, short tracks and the occasional road course, NASCAR’s trucks are fun to watch and challenging to drive.

Although Toyota was a little late to the party, since entering NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series competition in 2004, the Tundra has become the truck to beat. Travis Kvapil took the Tundra’s first win in mid-2004 and Toyota has since gone on to more than half a dozen manufacturers championships (including four straight from 2006-10) with no sign of slowing down.
